Learn how to generate a new plugin so that your content is available to users inside the RepFiles apps.
How to Generate a Plugin:
1. Before generating a plugin, make sure you have distinguished which folder inside the RepFiles Browser will be the root folder for your plugin.
2. Sign in to
www.repfiles.net with your RepFiles account information, then select the Plugin Manager tab.
3. Select “Generate New Plugin” located near the bottom of the page.
4. Complete the plugin generation page:
- Plugin name: Include your company name (or commonly known abbreviation) at the beginning of the plugin name (i.e. “[Company Name] Sales Materials”).
- Remote path: Select “browse” to choose the designated root folder for this plugin.
- Device path: The device path is the folder path users will see on their devices to get to the plugin’s root folder. In most cases, the device path should not be edited. Please consult with a RepFiles team member if you wish to change the device path.
- Check availability: Select the “check availability” link to make sure your plugin name is not already in use. The same plugin name cannot be used for more than one plugin.
- Application: Select which apps should host this plugin. Your intended authorized users (reps, distributors, etc.) should determine which apps are chosen. You can also remove/add apps after the plugin is generated.
- Type of plugin: Public-Secure is the recommended security type for plugins intended for sales reps and/or distributors. Public can also be used if all RepFiles users can access your content. Private-Secure is the recommended security type for plugins intended for internal company associates.
- Icon: We recommend a simple version of your company logo as the plugin icon. The icon should be a JPEG or PNG, 288 x 288 pixels or higher and 1 MB maximum. Select “Choose File” to select an image from your computer, then “Upload” to submit the image as your plugin icon.
- HTML message: Review the auto-populated plugin description and make any necessary changes. It is important to remember that the only time RepFiles users will see this message is if the plugin is Public-Secure and they have not been authorized to access it. Once the plugin icon is selected from the Add New screen inside the app, unauthorized users will see this HTML message, along with a “Request Access” button.
5. Select “Generate” near the bottom of the page.
6. The plugin will now appear on the Plugin Manager page.

As content is updated inside the plugin’s root folder, authorized plugin users will always have access to the latest materials inside the plugin in the RepFiles app.
Tip: Test out the plugin on your own device to make sure everything is setup correctly. Add your own RepFiles account to the plugin’s allowed users list, then access the plugin inside the appropriate RepFiles app. If everything looks as expected, proceed with making an announcement and authorizing additional users.
